John Doodle, I definitely agree that the next few years will hold many more bad surprises than 2008 did. In my opinion, the big shock wave hasn't even begun...

So the chinese financial asset markets will go through another steroidal charge, until inflation starts to kick in. Watch when oil gets above $100, watch for crop failures/drought/swine flu resurgence this winter, and chinese shoppers lining up outside carrefour trampling over each other for a discounted bottle of cooking oil, maybe in 2010, maybe later, who knows.

It's an interesting monetary approach. Bernanke is like the doctor who keeps killing the lab rats and keeps giving them the same killer antidote. So what if loose monetary policy and high debts got us into this mess? If we keep trying the same failed policies it might work this time, right? Wrong.

HD16, I agree. This doesn't make me happy and optimistic at all. You would think these people would 'get it' by now. Either they are very conceited in thinking they know best and can control the outcomes (which Bernanke thinks), or there is some nefarious force out there that is truly engineering a collapse to bring in a new world order which conspiracy theorists have said would happen 10 years ago-and I thought they were crazy. Now I am not so sure.
