Europe’s View of the Euro

By Walter Kurtz, Sober Look

The latest Pew surveys that focused on the benefits of the euro and the ongoing wish to maintain the common currency have revealed some surprising results.

  • The Brits think the euro was a great idea. Maybe they are just happy the UK is not part of it.
  • The Greeks want to keep the euro more than the Germans.
  • And the Italians more than the others think it was a bad idea.

The euro experiment is a disaster. These European politicians are hard-lining ideologues no more useful than children. End this farce now, please.

Silvio Berlusconi is running for his comeback on a platform of Italy exiting the Euro. Let’s all support Berlusconi.

Clearly you don’t like the euro and may be you’ll bet your money against it. In that case as all the emotionally driven traders you’ll loose yur money. Uncle Ben doesn’t want a strong dollar and it was quite good up to know in managing his house.

No one has nailed it better than SR today: the euro system was a ponzi scheme!

The europeans will take years to fix their broken boxes but at least they are working on it. In other countries all are still in denial. No problem in Houston… or in London ? Yes you can print money but how much money you need if to keep GP above zero you need 11% deficit year after year ? I’ve a strange idea. May be in a not so distant future, europeans will stop to bail out their banks with public funds and let shareholders and bondholders take a big hit. Wow ! That’s not what the City and WS dream for, isn’t it ?

Europe can work out it’s problems, but Europe needs to remodel its house while rebuilding a shaky foundation. The US and UK can remodel their houses, take a break and sip some ice tea out on the porch and watch their Euro neighbor try to figure out how to pour a new foundation, remodel, and live in the house all at the same time. The US and UK can take decades to remodel if they want to all the while sleeping soundly at night knowing the whole house isn’t going to come crashing down on them.

I hope Europe works out its problems and in the near future can get a good nights sleep, but i’m afraid they’ll be taking a shot of whiskey before bedtime for the next ten years.

Not surprised the Italians don’t like Euro.

Just looking at recent Italian gasoline figures more closely and they are quite extraordinary.

    Gasoline Y1998 : 0.42 MBD May 2012 moving average : 0.215 MBD

and very little good substitution to show for this sacrifice made during the reign of the 2 Marios

    I don’t get brittish…

Maybe they think the euro is great because they can continue to annoy europeans in different ways? IMO whatever hap`pens with the EU and the euro we should kick the UK out of it.
