Great post. And be sure to remember that, according to the always insightful Mr. Mortgage, there is a HUGE shadow inventory out there, primarily due to the fact that bank's are forclosing (or were until today!) but not re-offering homes agressively back into the market. Seems that at most only 50% of foreclosed homes are making it out the "back end", i.e. being listed for resale. Bottom line: it's worse than most people think! And this funny-business about 1) providing mortgage relief to people who can't pay and 2) temporarily halting foreclosures, well, both those DUD ideas will make the housing pain last that much longer and perhaps engender it to be worse!!! Oh, you're going to stop foreclosures? And you're going to help people pay who can't otherwise pay? Great!!! I think I'll stop paying my mortgage!!!! Seems like doing that gets me free rent until the banks and the weasel politicians toughen up and face REALITY.
