IS A “SUPER BULL MARKET” COMING?

12 September 2009 by Cullen Roche 4 Comments

James Dines is calling for it.  Calls for armageddon are often, but rarely do we hear the exact inverse – a call for a wildly out of control bull market.  James Dines of the Dines Letter is calling for exactly that.  He believes a buying panic is going to ensue over in the near future.  This interview is a must listen for those who are looking for the opposite side of the armageddon coin.  Click the image to listen:

Peter Brimelow in MarketWatch (5/28/09) writes: “…[O]ver three years: he’s down 20.21% annualized vs. a negative 10.72% annualized for the total-return Wilshire 5000. Only over the longer run does Dines’ post-millennium rally show up: he’s up 3.97% annualized vs. negative 1.59% annualized for the Wilshire.”

Does he really say there will be the next bull market? I listened and he said there will be the next bull market in commodities and especially rare earth metals. He didn’t say there will be a super bull market though in equities…He even said himself that he picks bull markets all the time, like picking uranium stocks when the tech bubble burst. He wasn’t saying it was a bull market for stocks, but for uranium in 2001 for example…

For his calls…I don’t know. I’ve never heard about him before. But I like his dollar call.

    James Dines:

His Dollar position is incoherent and at odds with his Gold position.

    His Oil thesis:?

There is a finite supply therefore Oil must go up.

A broken clock is right twice a day.

I listened to the interview and he never said anything about a new super bull market in equities. What he said was there will be a new super bull market in Rare Earth Metals.
