TPC - well done. I mostly agree, but am not positive that we are near being out of the woods on the credit side. Too much stuff off the books and CRE still to go. We got a ways to go for this whole bear market to play out and this rocket is just dumping the primary tanks. Don't think we're even close to getting in orbit yet where we stay for a while. Thanks for all you do.

Those 2X and 3X funds are whacky prescient. I don't know how anyone trades them. They don't appear to correlate to their underlying index and the volatility makes risk management nearly impossible. Be careful diving into those things....

Yes, we have all been pounding the table on this. Absolutely. Gonna build a position in skf until I'm right.

Yoyo,

There is no doubt in my mind that the government orchestrated the rally of the last 3 months. Whether they directly manipulated prices is another story, but they certainly lined up a series of events that you simply couldn't short in front of and essentially had to buy in front of. You're probably familiar with my posts on the government run rally. I have no evidence that suggests they are directly manipulating prices though.

I am no conspiracy theorist, but common sense tells me that U.S. government isn't going to side by idly while the greatest empire of the last 300 years implodes on their front doorstep. They can and should do everything to save the markets. Whether that is in-line with their "free market" ideals is likely not important to them. Obama has made it abundantly clear that he will do whatever it takes to save the economy - even if it includes practices that are not entirely capitalist....
