TPC,

Rails have recovered slightly compared to four months ago, but it should be up a lot more if this rally reflects reality. Obviously Wall Street and all traders are having a last hurrah before the Titanic goes down. You may be making a lot of money, but if you don't get out with it what is the point. Data on all crashes show that over 80% don't get out in time. Oh well, it will be interesting to watch.

I'll look into it. These numbers should not be down 15% year over year. They should be at least flattish based on the level of optimism in markets. Very odd.

The jobs market and blue collar economy are telling a very different story from the stock market.

hi tpc -- now that we're getting into the post-crash depression weeks as comps, do you happen to have the database to run the two-year compounded change in freight traffic? it might be more instructive, as one would expect vastly easier comps to yield "improving" YoY figures. indeed if YoY stays negative through the end of the year, that will say something really awful about the "recovery".
