UNDERSTANDING THE MODERN MONETARY SYSTEM

28 February 2012 by Cullen Roche 4 Comments

I’ve updated my paper on Understanding the Modern Monetary System for those who are interested.  It can be downloaded here and will be posted permanently here.  I hope you find it helpful.  As always, feel free to email or leave questions.   Also, I moved the discussion forum to the MMR website so feel free to access it there.

You need to create a graphic that explains the flow of money in an economy from origin to “destruction.” Also, show how this connects to the international economy. For example, show the US printing dollars (I know its on a computer) and sending them to China in exchange for cheap labor on toys. Then, show the dollars being used by China to buy oil from the Middle East or Russia or South America. You get the point. In the meantime show how the US controls the waterways, thereby it is the reserve currency.

    Congrats, keep improving!

  • But What Do I Know?

    Thanks for posting the link.

Would it be a corollary of MMR to view interest paid on government debt as a subsidy to holders of the currency? Or perhaps a bribe? Or a way of convincing people to view it as a store of value?
