wrt Lampert, it's an old story of someone very successful in one business thinking he can achieve the same success in another business. I did it to myself; that's how I know the paradigm. I had a wonderful (but kind of brain-dead) trash-into-gold computer business that made scads of money and I got very complacent and went into a retail business that killed me. (after swearing I NEVER wanted employees nor a retail location)

I'm thinking of Sam Zell, whose sale of his EO properties called the top of the real estate market literally to the hour…going into newspapers and getting his clock thoroughly cleaned.
