WHAT’S ON TAP

31 May 2009 by TPC 0 Comments

Earnings are very light this week.  Once again economic news will dominate the calendar.  Bernanke speaks twice this week on Wednesday and Thursday so those could be market moving speeches.  GM is expected to file for bankruptcy on Monday, but this is certainly priced into stocks.   Hovnanian and Toll Brothers report earnings and could give useful updates on the state of the housing market.   Jobs news will dominate the economic data as we get ADP, claims and payrolls three days in a row.
  • Monday: ISM manufacturing, April construction spending, April personal income and spending
  • Tuesday: April pending home sales, May auto sales
  • Wednesday: ISM services index, May ADP employment survey, April factory orders, weekly crude inventories
  • Thursday: Revised Q1 productivity, weekly initial jobless claims
  • Friday: May unemployment and nonfarm payrolls, April consumer credit
