If you missed this interview with Paul Volcker on Charlie Rose, I highly recommend it. Volcker is one of the few insiders who really appears to understand what is going on in the US economy. I could essentially plagiarize this entire interview and feel great about my perspective on the world. It’s amazing that he hasn’t been more involved in the recovery process and has instead been pushed out of the way in favor of people like Tim Geithner who helped cause this whole mess in the first place. He touches on:
- The flaws in Dodd Frank
- How the elimination of Glass Steagall was a mistake
- The de-leveraging of the USA
- The European crisis and what needs to be done to fix the EMU
- The lessons of the Japanese crisis
- The continuing housing crisis
